A young Tralee woman, whose family had lobbied for an ICU bed to be found for her so she could undergo a life-saving operation, has died. Breda Kevane, who turned 19 years old this month, died this morning. Last month, Breda’s brother Paddy launched a campaign #Bed4Breda to move her from University Hospital Kerry to a facility with a suitable intensive care unit for her needs. The teenager needed to be in ICU as she awaited urgent surgery on her airways. A suitable bed was found at Cork University Hospital and Breda was moved there on March 31st. She passed away this morning. Her brother Paddy released a statement saying, she passed away in his arms, surrounded by her family. Paddy thanked everyone for their support over the past few weeks.
