The funding of the renovation of the sports complex in Tralee is to be discussed at tonight’s meeting of the Town Council. The joint owners of the centre have admitted that there’s a dispute about who should pay for the work done. Last week Radio Kerry News revealed that there was a stand-off between the joint owners about the refurbishment cost of the sports and leisure centre.Documents show the Manager of the complex asking the Town Council to make good on a commitment given by former town clerk John Breen to pay 500,000 euro of the cost. The Town Council doesn’t accept that any commitment was given and in turn queried the figures supplied by the sports complex. A statement from the joint owners – Kerry Education Service and Tralee Town Council – accepts that significant issues remain to be resolved. Ahead of the official opening on Friday, both sides will be keen to resolve their differences.
