A Tralee mother-of-five has been banned from entering Lidl for five years, following her conviction for theft at the store. 31-year-old Margaret Harty, whose address was given as Tralee Holiday Lodge, Mary Street, was handed down a two-month suspended sentence. Margaret Harty admitted stealing two pairs of leggings and two tops, worth €50, from Lidl on February 16th but told Tralee District Court she ‘didn’t mean it’. She was also convicted of driving with no insurance, and permitting a child under 17 to travel in the car without wearing a seat belt. Judge James O’Connor imposed a three-month sentence for the driving with no insurance offence but suspended this on condition she doesn’t drive any vehicle in a public place without adequate insurance for five years. She was fined €175 for the seat belt offence. Judge O’Connor also disqualified her from driving for three years.
