A former Kerry U21 footballer, who drove at a speed of 150km in a 100km zone, has avoided conviction by making a €750 contribution to the court poor box. David Culloty of Ballybeggan, Tralee was detected driving at 150km per hour at Gurrandarragh, Farranfore on November 16th last. His solicitor, Pa Daly, said he was a decent fellow who had never been in court for anything before in his life. Tralee District Court heard Mr Culloty drove a bus for a living. Judge James O’Connor struck the matter out when he paid €750 to the poor box.
