Tralee man ordered to pay €1500 compensation to victim of assault

Tralee courthouseA Tralee man has been ordered to pay compensation of 1500 euro to the victim of an assault on Christmas Eve 2013. David Ward of 30 Hawley Park was charged with assault causing harm to James Lyons outside the Four Seasons Bar in Tralee. Using a torch in Tralee District Court James Lyons showed Judge James O’Connor the scar he received as a result to the assault. He also told the court that he needed 8 stitches to his lip and suffers flash backs to the assault when he shaves. Mr Ward who spoke through a sign language interpreter accepted what he had done caused serious damage and that compensation should be paid. Judge O’Connor ordered that 1500 euro be paid to the victim and adjourned the matter until July 27th 2016.
