A 32-year-old businessman from Tralee has been named the best young entrepreneur in the county.
Derek Counihan who founded the company, Harpoon, won the Kerry final of the Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur competition.
It’s aimed at entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35.
Derek Counihan’s company, Harpoon, helps businesses make money from their digital marketing using data technology.
He also won the category for best start-up business and an investment fund from the Kerry Local Enterprise Office which is worth €15,000.
Pádraig O’Leary from Killarney won best business idea for his company, Cora, which provides cloud based services to help pharmacies optimise their revenue streams.
Ballyheigue man David Monson of Monson Irish Jewellery, won the best established business category and a prize of €15,000.
Derek, Padraig and David will now represent Kerry in Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur Regional Finals.
Runners-up were Rowan Copeland from Castlegregory of Go Yeti, Joseph Moynihan of JM Agri-Design, Tralee and Jessica Clinton of Ballyhar Foods.
