Tralee business has no confidence in measures designed to tackle rising insurance costs

A Tralee business says it has no confidence in measures designed to tackle rising insurance costs.

The Chairperson of the Aquadome in Tralee, Denis Reen, was part of a Prime Time programme on insurance costs last night, along with the Minister of State with special responsibility for Financial Services and Insurance, Michael D’Arcy.

A report on tackling rising insurance costs is due to be published shortly.

Mr Reen says compensation awards in Ireland are four or five times higher than those awarded across Europe, and he believes both the minister and the legal profession have no interest in tackling the issue.

He adds rising insurance costs could threaten many small and medium business.
