Bin crews in Tralee are waiting for written confirmation on possible changes to their work practices under the new bin tag system. The tags will come into effect on the 31st of March and council management has stated publicly there will be changes to the crew’s roster. The union representing bin men SIPTU says they are waiting for written confirmation on the changes. At the moment there are two crews and the plan is to have one crew working on a task to finish basis. This means there will be no overtime. Council Management also says there will be no provision for sick leave. Once written confirmation is received by the Union a General Meeting will take place to debate how the changes will impact on the working day.
