Tourism boss calls for ‘Responsible Tourism Plan’ for Kerry

A Kerry tourism boss has called for a plan for ‘responsible tourism’ to be put in place for Kerry. Kerry Way sign John Ahern, who is chairman of The Kerry Way and was previously chair of Cork Kerry Tourism, says this is all the more necessary since the introduction of the Wild Atlantic Way. Mr Ahern, who has over 20 years experience in the tourism industry, says he is not in favour of capping tourist numbers but facilities to cope with an increase need to be organised. He’s also critical of tourism bodies such as Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland, the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Kerry County Council for not communicating with each other and devising a plan.
