The threat of a rail strike in the Kerry and Cork region has been lifted after the intervention of the Labour Relations Commission. Iarnroid Eireann and SIPTU representatives are to meet in Cork tomorrow morning to discuss the disciplinary case at the centre of the dispute. Rail workers had threatened to disrupt services in Cork and Kerry from midnight. All services will now operate as normal, and special trains to and from Cork for U2 concerts and the Munster Hurling Final will resume sales this afternoon.
