The Office of Public Works has begun the search for their new state offices in the county. The department of Arts, Sport and Tourism is to move to Killarney under the new decentralization programme, while a section of the Department of Finance is moving to Listowel. In total 215 members of the Civil Service will be moving to the county.The O.P.W. is looking for office space in Kerry in order to house their departments. The Minister of State Tom Parlon has promised that de-centralization plans will go ahead, despite fears that officials will refuse to leave Dublin. The office of public works will consider using sites in the county that already have planning permission for buildings.
