Ten people rescued after boats got into difficulty on Shannon Estuary

Ten people, including four children had to be rescued after their three boats got into difficulty in the Shannon estuary. The group were travelling from Kilbaha in County Clare to Meenagehan in Causeway yesterday evening when the weather began to deteriorate. A fishing vessel from Kilrush raised the alarm at around 6.40pm and took on board the children and a woman. A boat from Ballybunion Sea and Cliff rescue and a Shannon rescue helicopter escorted the rest of the group to Meenagehan.
