Taoiseach hopeful deal with Independents could be concluded soon

Dail ChamberThe Taoiseach says he’s hopeful a deal with Independents could be concluded as early as tonight or tomorrow. But some of those Independent TDs continue to say it’s unlikely that a vote for Taoiseach can take place this week.
Day 68 and talks continue today with the groups of Independents Fine Gael is trying to woo into Government. Longford Westmeath TD and member of the Independent Alliance Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran says progress has been made: But his colleague in the alliance, Shane Ross isn’t as confident: Neither is Mattie McGrath of the rural group of TDs: Kerry TD, Michael Healy Rae is more confident: And that’s a confidence shared by the man who wants to be re-elected Taoiseach: Tomorrow’s Dáil schedule could be cleared if a deal is struck – and the Friday option is not being ruled out, but Fine Gael sources say realistically they’re now working towards a Dáil vote on Tuesday.
