Talks continue on closing the Dublin Coastguard Station.

Talks on closing the Dublin Coastguard Station and transferring the staff to Malin Head and Valentia are continuing. The move is set to take place in tandem with the establishment of a Marine Safety Directorate.It`s understood some structural and building work will have to take place in Valentia ahead of the transfer of staff. Preparations for this are underway. A number of meetings at top level between the Union representing workers impact and Department of the Marine Officials have taken place. However negotiations are likely to take a considerable amount of time to complete.
