Support in Kerry for both Alan Kelly and Brendan Howlin in Labour leadership contest

Labour’s Director of Elections in Kerry says there’s support in Kerry for both Alan Kelly and Brendan Howlin in the leadership contest. Alan Kelly Minister of State at Department of Transport Tourism and SportFionnuala Sarsfield, who’s also Labour’s Treasurer in Kerry, was speaking ahead of the opening of formal nominations for candidates to replace Joan Burton as party leader. So far, Alan Kelly is the only one of the seven Labour TDs who’s publicly declared his intention to run, while Brendan Howlin is still considering whether to put himself forward. Fionnuala Sarsfield says both candidates would get the backing of Labour members in Kerry; she says Alan Kelly often attends events in the county as his wife his from Kerry.
