Street trading in Kenmare now a ‘free for all’ says councillor

Dan McCarthy 1 Local councillor, Dan McCarthy says that in the absence of long-promised bye-laws on the matter, stalls are now two and three abreast in the town and are preventing people from accessing established businesses. New bye-laws were due to go out to public consultation last January but it will now be at least the end of the year for this process begins – resources permitting according to Kerry County Council. A legal challenge over trading rights was withdrawn late last year and a full review of the matter is being carried out by a senior counsel.
