Staffing crisis at Kerry General may lead to bed closures

The Irish Nurse`s Organisation says the staffing crisis at Kerry General may lead to bed closures if the HSE fails to provide additional nursing posts. They say the situation is now so acute that management are depending on the existing staff to work their days off and patient care could be compromised if this is allowed to continue. The health service executive says they have its full complement of staff and that shortages which occur on a daily basis cannot be anticipated. The matter is to be raised by deputies jimmy deenihan and martin Ferris in the Dail. INO spokesperson Michael Dineen says if the situation continues they may have onlycone course of action left open to them.
