The Franciscan Sisters are leaving their long term home in St Mary of the Angles in Beaufort today. The running of the service will now be handed over to St John of Gods. St Mary of the Angels opened in 1968 and provides residential day and respite care for children and young adults with intellectual disability. It was originally opened for children however the service has now developed to facilitate a large number of adult service users. The handover ceremony takes place this afternoon in the Great Southern Hotel in Killarney. Sister Colm CEO of St Mary of the Angles for the past 27 years says that the staff will carry on the good work.
