Management at St John of God’s, Kerry say the time for talking has to end and a new roster must be introduced despite the threat of strike action. General Manager, Claire Dwyer, says while cost savings are part of the motivation for changes, the main reason is to bring a quality service to residents at St Mary of the Angels in Beaufort; she says the current roster has been in place for 30 years. Ms Dwyer says there are three new rosters being proposed, and they’ve been put to the 220 staff and unions. She says they’ve been talking with unions and the Workplace Relations Commission for 2 and a half years, and while management are available to continue talks, it’s now time to implement changes.
