The Republic of Ireland enjoyed a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in Lansdowne Road last night. Ian Harte opened the scoring for the Irish hitting the back of the net from a free kick after 52 minutes. Milan Baros equalised for the Czechs in the last ten, but on the stroke of full time Robbie Keane got Ireland’s second to secure victory of the team ranked sixth in the world. The Czech defeat brought an end to a 20 match unbeaten record and Irish boss Brian Kerr says it was a pleasing result.
