Special presiding officers are going to nursing homes and hospitals to allow long stay residents cast their votes in the General Election. The Returning Officer for Kerry, Pádraig Burke, says 507 people in long stay residential care are casting their votes in their nursing home or hospital. The week-long process ends this Wednesday. The person votes in private with a presiding officer and a member of An Garda Síochana present to ensure due process is followed. Thirteen special presiding officers in Kerry are calling to nursing homes and hospitals.
