South and West Kerry councillors say area not getting fair share of funding

Councillors in the South and West Kerry Municipal District have rejected the draft budget for the area for 2016. John Francis Flynn 1 The move came amid dissatisfaction from councillors who say that south and west Kerry is not getting its fair share of revenue from the Community Development Fund. It’s claimed that the municipal district has the highest population of the four in the county and that Tralee, Killarney and Listowel are benefitting disproportionately because they previously had town councils. The rejection of the draft budget means it now has to go back to the full council for consideration.
