Sod turned on first US 1916 Garden of Remembrance

Fianna Fáil Senator Mark Daly from Kenmare The sod has been turned on the first 1916 Garden of Remembrance in the United States. The garden was designed by landscape artist Diarmuid Gavin and supported by Congressman Richard Neal, who performed the sod turning in Springfield, Massachusetts on Tuesday. The garden will acknowledge the strong cultural links between Ireland and the US. Fianna Fáil senator Mark Daly, a member of the Government’s all-party consultation group on commemorations, says he’s delighted the first US 1916 Garden of Remembrance will open in Springfield, a city that shares many connections with Ireland.
