Sizing John overcame favourite Sub Lieutenant on the extended run-in to win the Kinloch Brae Chase under Robbie Power for Jessica Harrington at Thurles today.
The last was omitted after a fall from outsider Letter Of Credit left Tralee jockey Phillip Enright in need of treatment on the track.
Enright was eventually able to walk off the track unaided, but was taken to hospital for x-rays on his jaw.
Sub Lieutenant had looked in control jumping what became the last fence, but he was outbattled by Sizing John.
Black Hercules, who raced well off the pace in the early stages, briefly got involved around the last but faded late on, while early pace setter Smashing weakened from the turn in.
Sizing John is now 10-1 for the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham after today’s win.
Just one year ago Foxrock was contesting Grade 1 chases, but this afternoon, with his sights lowered to hunter chasing, the Ted Walsh-trained gelding had too much to spare from a similarly classy On His Own, who finished runner-up in the 2014 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Foxrock, owned by Barry Connell, was always prominent under Katie Walsh and had too much zest for On His Own at the finish. Foxrock was well-backed at odds of 4-6.
Westerner Lady was left in front to claim the Grade 2 Champs Elysees Coolmore National Hunt Sires Mares’ Novice Chase at Thurles after Keppols Queen crashed out at the last.
The favourite completed a double on the card for trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Ruby Walsh after Al Boum Photo won the maiden hurdle in decisive fashion earlier on the card.
Westerner Lady has now won a staggering eight of her last nine starts.
