SIPTU reaffirms backing for roster change at Kerry special needs service

St John of GodSIPTU members at St Mary of the Angels in Beaufort have reaffirmed their backing for roster changes. This is after the 40 INMO members at the special needs service voted unanimously in favour of strike action, which is set to start on the 2nd of May. St John of God’s Kerry, who manage the facility, this week said they’ve been talking about changes for two and a half years, and despite the threat of strike action, a new roster must be introduced for the 220 staff. SIPTU’s 120 members were balloted last year and accepted new rosters; however changes were made to this deal, and at a meeting held last night, union members reaffirmed their support with a show of hands. SIPTU’s Donie Doody says the meeting was well attended, and adds that they’ve yet consider if their members will cross the IMNO picket, but he hopes the matter will be sorted by then: [audio_player src=””]
