Up to 2,000 hill sheep farmers in Kerry may lose up to 3,600 euro in annual income under the combined system of single farm payments and Reps. This new system looks for hill sheep farmers to reduce stock on common areas of land, thus reducing the number of sheep that farmers can have on hills and mountains. The move is being taken to avoid over grazing. The IFA says farmers in South and West Kerry in particular could be the worst hit.
