Second Garda is hospitalised following assault in Kenmare

Its emerged that second garda was hospitalised following an assault in his home town of Kenmare. The 27 year old was assaulted in the main street at a quarter to four on Sunday morning. He received a head injury and is described as comfortable. Meanwhile Gardai in Listowel have questioned up to fifty people following an attack of an off duty garda in Listowel at the weekend.Garda David Kennealy sustained a broken leg, head and facial injuries in a vicious assault off a side street in the town. Gardai are continuing for witnesses to come forward. It`s understood up to sixty people saw the incident take place. Garda kenneally has been removed to Cork University hospital for further treatment. Inspector martin McCarthy is heading up the investigation. A former member of the force and Listowel Town Councillor Tim O Leary says we need to look at the whole issue of alcohol abuse.
