The sale of the Owenmore river which was set to go ahead today has been postponed until next Friday. The Comhair Cumman in the Cloghane /Brandon area who are hoping to place a bid for the Owenmore Fishery held a public meeting last night. Concern had been expressed that local access to the river may be restricted if it is bought by an outside owner. The Comhair Cummann are communicating with Marine Minister Pat the Cope Gallagher, Tourism and Sport Minister John O Donoghue and Minister for the Gaeltacht Eamon O Cuiv. Michael O Dowd a guesthouse owner in the area says they are seeking government support to purchase the river.
