Roses get ready for tonight’s Rose Ball

Thirty-two Roses representing Irish communities all over the world have been presented with a certificate of their Irish heritage. Tickets for the ball sold out in July and the Roses will be among 1,000 people attending tonight’s gala event, one of the highlights of the festival. Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Pat McCarthy, officially welcomed the Roses to Tralee at a ceremony in the Wetlands Centre. He told them he can remember the first Rose of Tralee Festival in 1959.
