Room being developed for witnesses at Tralee Courthouse

A room for vulnerable witnesses is being developed in Tralee Courthouse. Tralee courthouse2It follows the coming together of several groups in the county. The initiative is being led by Kerry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre and is supported by Adapt, Tralee Women’s Resource Centre and Kerry Victim Support. The aim is to provide a safe and comfortable place for witnesses to wait ahead of their cases in the District, Circuit or Family courts. Previously, witnesses could only wait in the lobby of the court house on Ashe Street. The room has been facilitated by Regional Manager of the Courts Service in the South Eamon Kiely. It will be located upstairs, which previously housed the court services offices; these have relocated to the Centre Point building on John Joe Sheehy Road. The development is being supported by local businesses.
