Rising fuel costs may raise taxi charges

Taxi fares in Kerry may rise in the next month because of the increasing cost of fuel. The National Union of Taxi Drivers are to apply to local authorities for permission for a 50c fuel surcharge on all fares. Terry Boyle, Chairperson of the Tralee Taxi Association says that fuel costs have increased by 40% since 2003, and that the sharp increase is having serious consequence for taxi drivers.
