The review of fire safety at Kerry’s halting sites is ongoing. Kerry County Council is also consulting with the Kerry Travellers Development Project regarding this matter. The council also understands that a national review of fire safety is to be rolled out which it will co-operate with. Last month the local authority carried out safety checks in the county’s four halting sites following the tragedy in Dublin. 10 members of the travelling community including 5 children lost their lives in a fire at their halting site in Carrickmines.
