Result of Count 1 – Listowel Count Afresh

As was the case in 2014 – Fianna Fail’s John Brassil and Sinn Fein’s Robert Beasley have been re-elected to Kerry County Council following the first count in the count afresh of the Listowel Municipal District. The former topped the poll with 1,905 votes followed by Robert Beasley on 1,859 votes. The first count was delayed as disputed doubtful papers had to be adjudicated upon in Limerick Circuit Court by Judge Tom O’Donnell. 18 of those votes were admitted into the count. Count Afresh 6 Currently count staff are distributing the 285 votes of Independent Kate Carmody who was eliminated following count one. Tallymen and candidates are keeping a close eye on where the all important transfers are going as in 2014 just 5 votes separated the final three candidates for the last two seats. The count afresh arose following a legal challenge taken by Independent candidate who narrowly missed out on a seat in the local elections of 2014.
