The liquidator for a Kenmare-based fish processing company is in discussions with potential buyers of its assets.

Kenmare Select is in liquidation, with Marcus Tracey of OCKT appointed liquidator.

Kenmare Select

A statement from OCKT confirmed they’re in discussions with a potential buyer for the assets of Kenmare Select.

Kenmare Select has been in operation in Kenmare for over 30 years, and employed more than 20 full-time and 40 part-time and seasonal workers.

Radio Kerry understands that Nolan’s Seafood company in Dublin is in talks, and that work continues to fill orders for Christmas at the factory.

The liquidator confirmed that while they couldn’t comment on individual cases, that there will likely be rationalisation which will lead to some redundancies.

Radio Kerry understands that some of the Kenmare Select staff have taken redundancy, and that further movement on the purchase or otherwise of Kenmare Select will be made after Christmas, which is the busiest period for smoked salmon producers.

Deputy Michael Healy-Rae has been working with the remaining staff to try and avoid job losses.
