Dingle’s Paul Geaney is Kerry’s only player to be named in the 2016 OPEL GAA/GPA All Star team.
The corner forward earns his first All-Star award following a season which saw him named as Kerry’s top scorer with 3 goals and 15 points.
Geaney’s selection has come as no surprise in the GAA community, although many had predicted him to be joined by Tarbert full back Shane Enright who had a great season in the green and gold.
On this morning’s Kerry Today, his brother Kevin pointed to Kerry’s semi-final defeat as the main reason behind his omission…
Geaney is one of 8 first time All-Stars selected. Champions Dublin claim the majority of picks with 6, followed by beaten finalists Mayo who have 4.
Ex-Mayo Boss James Horan has backed the choice of David Clarke as All Star keeper…
Former All-Ireland winning Captain Ambrose O’Donovan had one or two reservations about the team, but he says Paul Geaney was a most deserving recipient.
Staying with Gaelic games, and Mayo footballing star Aidan O’Shea has made a return to the basketball court this week after a seven-year break.
The 26-year-old played with St Declan’s basketball club in Dublin until 2009 and also played Schools’ basketball in Castlebar.
He will return to the court with his new club, Ej Sligo All-Stars.
