A rally of hope for Killorglins Billy Burke who is waiting for a lung transplant is to take place on Monday afternoon. 29 year old Mr Burke has cystic fibrosis and is waiting for a lung transplant in the UK. However a Newcastle Hospital which has first call on Irish organs is refusing to release one for him despite his being cleared by a Manchester hospital as medically fit for transplant. The rally will begin at the Fishery in Killorglin and finish with a prayer service in st James church. Mr Burkes family will be looking for support for a petition calling for Irish organs to be made available to Irish patients irrespective of the hospital the transplant is to be carried out in. Copies of the petition will be sent to Councillors, and Oireachteas Members.
