Questions on Radon to be included in house conveyancing documents

Questions in relation to radon gas are to be included in conveyancing documents for homes following a decision by the Law Society.

The EPA has welcomed the decision to include the questions in their 2017 Conditions of Sale document to be used during the sale of homes.

Areas of Kerry have been identified as having high radon concentration and a home buyer will now be able to establish if a radon test has been carried out on a property, and if so what the report was, and if action was taken to reduce radon levels.

Radon is a naturally occuring radioactive gas which has been linked to lung cancer.

Dr Stephanie Long who is a Senior Scientist with the EPA has welcomed the decision and said its a significant step forward.
