Quarry owners seek legal advice on levy increase.

Quarry owners in the county are seeking legal advice on the levy increase of 15 cent per cubic metre. The Irish Concrete Federation is warning of job losses as a result of the new rate which was set earlier this week. However, operators using less than 10,000 tones will be exempt. Quarry owners had lobbied for a rate of just 3 cent, while Council Officials wanted 30 cent. John Maguire is Chief Executive of the Irish Concrete Federation.
