A precautionary boil water notice has been put in place for some households in the mid-Kerry area because of the shut down of the local treatment plant for one week. Kerry County Council and Irish Water are shutting down the Breanlee Water Supply near Killorglin for essential maintenance works. Because there will be no barrier for cryptosporidium in place for the duration of the works, those served by the supply are being advised to boil water for drinking and preparing foods. Areas served by the Breanlee supply include Ardmoniel, Glencuttane, Ownagarry, Killcoolaght, Groin, Shanara and Breanlee. A leaflet drop to affected customers is taking place and details are available on the websites of Kerry County Council and Irish Water. It is expected that the boil water notice will be in place for approximately one week.
