Deputy Jimmy Deenihan says the official opening of Listowel Castle may be deferred as a result of a row over planning. Town Council planners are examining a performance area constructed by the OPW at the entrance to the castle. No planning was granted for the structure as the OPW thought it was exempt.Management at the literary centre say the performance area was designed to restrict access to the castle from the street and direct them through the centre. Minister of State Tom Parlon is scheduled to open the castle during writer`s week in early June. Deputy Deenihan says if the planning row is not resolved, there will not be an official ceremony.
