A five-star hotel in Kerry has applied to the local authority for major refurbishments.

The Dunloe Hotel in Beaufort is set on 64 acres and is owned by the billionaire Liebherr family who operate a container crane factory in Killarney.

The proposed development includes construction of a two storey building to include a new reception, lounge, bar, restaurant, kitchen and more.

A first floor roof terrace and a two storey link building between the new reception and existing function room and leisure building.

Permission is also sought to extend the car park, for landscaping and to re-construct the existing fountain.

A decision will be made by planners in the coming months.
