A plane which was diverted back to Shannon Airport earlier this afternoon following a security alert has landed safety at the airport. The jet, which had 191 people on board, had smoke in its cockpit. Valentia, Fenit, Aran, and Kilrush lifeboats were alerted and the Marine Rescue helicopter at Shannon was also put on standby. Valentia Coastguard Radio Station was involved in co-ordinating the emergency response.
