Pat Rabbitte expects Labour party to have agreed leader by early this week

Labour Party logoPat Rabbitte says he expects the parliamentary Labour party to have an – agreed leader – early this week. The Dáil is due to resume on Tuesday – when the Taoiseach is expected to make his Junior Ministerial announcements. Nominations for Joan Burton’s replacement officially opened yesterday with the deadline set for Friday. Alan Kelly’s so far the only candidate to have put his name forward – however doubt has been raised over whether or not he’ll get his colleagues’ backing. Former Minister and leader of the party Pat Rabbitte doesn’t think that will be an issue.
