Over-use of social media a growing cause of marriage problems among Kerry couples

Social media is ‘wreaking havoc’ among couples in Kerry, and has become a growing cause of marriage breakdown.


That’s according to Dolores Stack, a counsellor with Accord, the biggest marriage counselling service in the country.

Last year alone, the service in Kerry dealt with 300 marriages in difficulty; a number which has continued to rise since the recession.

Money difficulties, alcohol problems and lack of communication continue to be major  issues among the couples coming forward.

But easy access to porn sites, plus over-use of social media, are also causing conflict, as Ms Stack explained to Deirdre Walsh on Radio Kerry’s Talkabout programme:
