Over 30 compensations claims against KCC in 2004

Over 30 compensation claims against Kerry County Council entered the legal system during last year. The figures have been released by the county manager following a request from cllr Brendan Cronin. Of the 31 public liability claims taken against Kerry county council during 2004 the majority are still ongoing. 27 cases remain in the court system while 4 of the claims have been settled. No details of the settlements were released by the council. 19 compensation proceedings issued prior to last year were dealt with in 2004 ,11 of which were settled. The statistics made public also show that the council’s law office issued and served almost 60 summonses under the litter pollution act. While 4 summonses were issued and served under the waste management act two of which were successfully prosecuted.
