OPW opens applications for Skellig Michael boatmen permits

The Office of Public Works has opened applications for permits for boats going to Skellig Michael.

Last year, the OPW introduced a new permit scheme in an attempt to clampdown on out-of-season landings on the UNESCO World Heritage site and alleged safety deficiencies.

The public competition has opened for permits to provide passenger access to Skellig Michael for the year’s season, which starts in mid-May.

Boatmen can get full details on the Heritage Ireland or OPW websites, and the closing date for receipt of responses is 12 noon on the 10th of February.
