An official one-day strike is taking place today at Leahy’s Pharmacy on the Listowel road, in Tralee. 3 members of Mandate say they have taken industrial action, because of concerns over work practices. The Leahy’s sold their pharmacy last year, and in November, the I.P.O.S group took over.3 staff members joined mandate, in an effort to have their concerns addressed through formal channels. Jim O`Connel, Mandate representative for the Tralee area, who was present at the scene of the strike today, said the union has had very little co-operation from I.P.O.S over the past four months. He said that inconvenience caused to customers is regrettable, but that staff had no other option.
