On the spot fines threat to anglers.

Anglers in the county have reacted angrily to the threat of on the spot fines for failure to return log books. To date just over 50 per cent of anglers have returned their log books which were to be returned last October. From today onwards the South West Regional Fisheries Board is to randomly select anglers who have not returned their log books and issue on the spot fines. Jerome Dowling PRO for the Irish Salmon and Sea Trout Angler`s Federation says that having to fill in a log book and account for where you are when you catch each salmon infringes on the freedom of anglers.
