Omission of Kerry voice at Cabinet level met with widespread disappointment

The omission of a Kerry voice from Enda Kenny’s junior ministry appointments yesterday has been met with widespread disappointment. That’s according to Tony Donnelly, Chairman of Fine Gael in Kerry, who said the Keel TD was given a strong mandate from voters in Kerry and should have been appointed. Deputy Griffin had been mooted for a junior ministry in Shane Ross’s Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport but was not among Taoiseach Enda Kenny 18 appointments yesterday.Brendan Griffin Kerry had been represented at cabinet level in the last administration with Jimmy Deenihan as Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht and as Minister of State for Irish Affairs and the Diaspora. Mr Donnelly said Deputy Griffin received the highest number of first preferences of any Fine Gael TD in Munster and this should have been recognised: [audio_player src=””]
