Oireachtas na Samhna is getting underway in Killarney today.
The traditional arts festival is running until Sunday, with events in the INEC and many other local venues.
The Oireachtas has again received a large number of entrants aged from six to 68 years for competitions which include sean-nós singing and dancing, and storytelling. A piece of music composed by Peadar Ó Riada will be one of the main highlights; it was commissioned by Oireachtas na Gaeilge as part of their 1916 commemorations. The festival programme also includes a series of events for children, and a number of Irish plays by various theatre companies.
